About Us

Brooke House School is a co-educational independent school for girls and boys from ages 5 to 16 years. We also provide childcare from birth to 5 years at our Nursery School. We offer small class sizes throughout our school and offer a range of extra curricular clubs and activities. Pupils that join us from a young age often remain with us until they have completed their GCSE’s.

Our Aim

We aim to provide full scope for all the imagination and originality in a student and prepare them for adulthood. This includes a wide variety of intellectual, philosophical and physical challenges to meet the varied needs of our students.

The pleasure of learning, the fun of childhood and the beginning of young adulthood are taught throughout our caring school community where every student is encouraged to explore new ideas and do one’s best.

Key Stage 1

This is an exciting time for children as they move into the next stage of their learning. Building on the skills already laid down in Foundation, children will quickly strengthen their appetite for learning within the supportive framework of small classes.

The children will spend the majority of their day developing the reading, language and number skills that lay the foundation for their future success. We believe in specialist tutors delivering lessons such as music, drama and foreign languages.

Key Stage 2

In Key Stage Two we believe in fully supporting your child through an exciting and varied curriculum. Although we follow the National Curriculum we are not restricted by it. We are able to be more flexible and adjust it accordingly to suit the needs of our students. We believe in nurturing the individual needs of all our students by developing a timetable that ensures all our students remain challanged whatever their level of learning may be.

Key Stage 3

At Brooke Lodge we understand that the transition from primary to secondary school is one of the biggest challenges that a young person faces. We endeavour to make this as smooth as possible by supporting both the parents/carers and the individual child.

Our pastoral care and the support for each individual student is central to our ethos. Form tutors, teachers and support staff provide constant support and challenge to ensure that all our students are known and their particular needs are met. Student behaviour, which ‘demonstrates the highest standards, in all respects, at all times’ and which supports our ethos is recognised through our rewards system, where students can earn privileges and gain recognition.

Key Stage 4

In Year 10 we allow all our students the opportunity to complete a foundation year on their GCSE’s. This allows them to see if they have made the right option choices, before they embark on their final G.C.S.E pathways.

The GCSE curriculum is carefully designed to ensure that all pupils complete courses in the core subjects of Mathematics, English and the Sciences whilst also allowing for a degree of specialisation. Pupils are able to pick from a wide range of courses, allowing them to tailor the curriculum to their own interests.

Students attend sessions of PE each week to help them to keep fit and active.
